What is a "used seat"?

We only bill for “used seats”, and a seat is billed once per event — no matter how many interactions occur, such as selections or status changes (e.g., bookings). This means the maximum charge per event is based on the venue’s total capacity.
A seat is considered “used” if any of the following actions occur at least once:
- A user selects the seat in their browser (e.g., clicks on it) and does not deselect it.
- The seat’s status changes (e.g., to “booked”) via an API call, either directly or through the best-available-seat algorithm.
- The seat gets assigned to a channel.
We focus on technical usage, not ticket sales. Whether a ticket is sold, paid for, or issued does not affect billing. Our service charges are tied strictly to this technical definition of a “used seat.”
